SUSTAINABILITY & NON-FINANCIAL REPORTING — JAPAN

Reporting that can be explained, one year against the next.

We help businesses in Japan work out what non-financial information they can already produce, and what a customer questionnaire or listing requirement is actually asking for. The figures come from records you already keep.

What this work is for

Disclosure is rarely a single document. It is energy bills, payroll records, and waste contractor statements, gathered in a form someone outside the company can follow. Our role is to locate what already exists, calculate what needs calculating, and set out a method that holds up if a figure is questioned later. Nothing here depends on a particular framework preference — it is about being able to show your working.

How we approach the work

Records first

We start with what your company already holds, rather than asking you to build a new system before any figure is produced.

Consistent boundaries

Figures are only useful if the boundary used to calculate them stays the same from one year to the next. We document this explicitly.

Proportion to size

Smaller companies are not held to a standard built for larger ones. What is reasonable depends on scale.

How a project usually runs

  1. 01

We review what prompted the request — a questionnaire, a listing rule, a customer requirement — and identify which figures are actually needed.

  2. 02

We locate the underlying records: utility statements, payroll data, contractor invoices, and note where each figure currently lives.

  3. 03

We calculate, document the method, and return a written explanation you can pass on or defend if asked.

Grounded in Japanese reporting practice

Based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, we work with published emission factors applicable in Japan and follow the documentation conventions that make a figure reproducible by someone else on your team. Our work is method-first: a number without a stated boundary is not, on its own, a useful disclosure.

If you would like to talk it through

Send a short note about what prompted the request — a questionnaire, a listing requirement, or simply a wish to understand your position. We will reply with what we think is a reasonable next step, without assuming which service fits until we know more.

We read every message ourselves and reply within a few working days.
